The below are all suggestions and optional inspiration, so if you already have an idea in mind that you want to write — please write that! I’ll be thrilled, I promise. Otherwise, feel free to pick & choose, mix & match, etc.
The fandoms I’m requesting this year are:

Agatha Christie's Poirot (TV)
General likes:
I read all ratings of fic so don’t feel obligated to shoehorn in smut, but feel free to if that’s where the spirit moves you! I love themes of queerness and growth — people growing into themselves, exploring how they do and do not fit into society’s expectations of them. I love intimacy in all its forms: learning to trust, learning to be vulnerable, both platonic and romantic longing and desire. I love sci-fi and horror elements! Any sci fi/horror tropes related to possession, mirror worlds, powers and the struggle to control powers, telepathy, empathy, transformation would all be welcome. Feel free to go Dark (dubcon and bodily harm is ok), but also I love humor! I love the absurd happening and people trying their best to deal with it. I’m also totally cool with experiments with non-traditional form or style. You’re always wanted to attempt a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure story? Go for it. Weird POV? Sure, why not.
General dislikes:
I would prefer to receive a story that does not contain misogyny, violence against women, explicit heterosexual sex, or animal harm as a central element or major theme.

I watched this TikTok thread (collected here) and thought: well this is the beginning of a great story.
Worldbuilding! I would love to read every possible take on secret passages hidden passages behind your bathroom mirror. Creepy takes. Absurd Alice in Wonderland takes. Sci fi takes. Horror takes. Why is the apartment on the other side empty? Who built it? Why did it have to be gutted in the first place? What does Sarah’s apartment look like to the empty apartment? What if it’s not empty?
I would love any version of a story that builds on the idea that Sarah comes back from the empty apartment, but comes back… Not Quite Right. Or a Double coming back.
Or a story where Sarah Doesn’t come back and John and Whatever You Decide To Call The Other Friend have to go in after her?
What if Sarah is transformed into an urban legend and she becomes the Creepy Woman Who Will Crawl Into Your Apartment Wielding A Hammer?!!
Tremors (1990) (characters: any)
Tremors is one of my very favorite movies. I’ve only ever seen the first one, so feel free to disregard the sequels entirely. Things I love about this movie: a badass female scientist who is sneakily one of the most realistic depictions of what being a scientist is like on film; the romantic and lonesome emptiness of desert life; the inherent weirdness of a town made up entirely of people who decided to move to the Middle of Nowhere; the fantastic OT3 vibes of the central trio! Reba Fucking McEntire? Are you kidding me?
I’d be super into receiving ship fic about Earl/Val, or Earl/Val/Rhonda, if that’s your thing. Rhonda presents about the graboids at a scientific conference and Val & Earl are along as invited guests and have to deal with being surrounded by hundreds of scientists? Yes, please. Drunken hookups —> Feelings? Fantastic.
I would also be Hella into receiving more on Heather’s backstory. How’d she end up with Burt? Where else have they lived? Are the graboids even the weirdest thing they’ve even seen?
I’d love stories about any of the characters picking up the pieces afterward. You want to write moody, realistic portraits of these characters slowly processing their trauma? I’m here for that. You want to write a farce about the speaking tour they go on afterward spinning wildly out of control? I’m also here for that!
I would love any kind of story that touches on themes of self-reliance vs community inter-dependency. How has this incident changed the community for better or worse? Are people more or less likely to leave now? Or does everyone go?
Agatha Christie's Poirot (TV) (characters: Arthur Hastings, Hercule Poirot)
I’ve read several of the Poirot novels and watched several episodes of the show, but not the entirety of either. And I tend to get which parts of canon are associated with one, both, or the other mixed up all the time, so please feel free to draw from whatever you like.
I love Poirot as a character! Although, he’s not explicitly written as queer, I would love a version of Poirot leading a cosmopolitan queer life that the others in his circle are completely oblivious to. Do you want to give him a gentleman caller? Super down. Do you want to make Hastings jealous without understanding why? Perfection. If you ship Hercule/Arthur I’d be thrilled to read about it. Otherwise, I’m extremely happy just to hear about their doting friendship.
I’m always up for case fic, although not great at dreaming up casefic plots, so you’ll have to handle that. I love stories about travel, and about people in awkward positions — shared accommodations, running into an ex, social faux pas. Also, I would be thrilled to read about Poirot calmly investigating some sort of Eldritch Terror.
I’d also be curious to hear more about Poirot’s youth. What was his time in the police force like? His life before immigrating?
I’d prefer no modern AUs for this fandom, but please don’t worry about period-detail perfection. I’m really just in it for the trains and the strained politeness.
