yay thank you for answering my questions! glad to know i'm not totally off on some of my thoughts :)
I would totally read a bajillion words on the changing role of defensemen in the league!! But yeah it makes sense that increasing offense = decreasing defense and vice versa. I'm also really curious how much defensive/offensive team systems actually affect a player's output. There was someone on the Bruins media beat that claimed Lucic + Krejci would be 100 pt players on a less defense-heavy team, which I'm not sure I agree with, but it would've been cool to measure the actual changes. I'd probably need a good way to filter 'offensive' from 'defensive' teams and a way to normalize for changes based on age, quality of teammate, etc. :|a eh.
