This was my first Yuletide, and, to make a long story short: it was awesome. I somehow ended up with TWO awesome stories, both based on A Separate Peace.

One is a loving recreation of a huge chunk of the novel through the lens of a Space AU. Right, let me run that by you again - A Separate Peace, Space AU - how are you not already clicking?

A Space Peace

The second is a brief moment in the lives of Phinny and Gene, fulfilling everything I could have wanted from the idea of 'Finny having an unrequited crush' and really just phenomenally captures John Knowles' writing style.

Harder to Salvage

From Yuletide I have learned the following things:

1. Fandom is awesome.
2. People really do read your (incredibly embarrassing) Dear Yuletide Author letters
3. People's ability to fulfill requests is... holy shit, who are these people? I love them.
4. How incredible is it to get two things for the same source material that are so different? It's like a microcosm of how fandom re-interprets texts. In short: IT IS SO FUCKING AMAZING.

To my anonymous author(s): THANK YOU SO MUCH. YOU ARE AWESOME.

To everyone else who participated in Yuletide: YOU GUYS ARE ALSO AWESOME. THE WORLD IS AWESOME.

Today is a good day.

I don't know the source material, but I've already seen your gift recced around :-)

I'm so happy you had a positive experience your first Yuletide! :D And can't wait to see what you wrote, if I know the source...
