For Yuletide, I wrote 15.5K about football, math jokes, and one ever-so-slightly neurotic QB:

Possibly I achieved an overabundance of feelings about the KC Chiefs, possibly (probably) because I wasn't allowed to talk about them. BUT NOW I CAN! (and I will). First things first, though, everybody should probably meet Alex (puckling, let me know if I'm doing this picspam thing right):

Alex was drafted in 2005:

But the 49ers were a... let's just say inconsistently managed franchise, and often Alex looked more like this:

or maybe Alex just doesn't like Anthony Davis looking at his ass?

BUT! They got their shit together - they hired firebrand Jim Harbaugh. They strung wins together. They got into the postseason, and in 2012, they were all set to do it again.

And then Alex got hurt.


The rest is history. Alex lost the starting job to Kaepernick, and Kaepernick never gave it up.


And all of THAT will get talked about in a future post! (off to watch the Winter classic and nurse a hangover :)

Yay! I'm so happy you enjoyed it/also this picspam. (It's my first pic spam, over in hockey fandom, I'm not usually one of the only people writing about a certain individual, so usually someone has beaten me to it!)

To be honest, I love football, but it wasn't something that I had considered writing fanfiction about until Yuletide came along, but this was really fun to write.

Any suggestions for other journals/communities/authors/etc I should be following for NFL RPF stuff?

I am going to follow you around and shout I LOVE THIS STORY.

I only know two other people who were ever in NFL RPF fandom and they seem to have moved on into Pacific Rim and other things. When I try to search for football slash, I get soccer. :-/ So I am SO SO HAPPY that I gave in to the whim to use this prompt for Yuletide, because I honestly didn't think anyone would sign up to write NFL RPS for Alex Smith for Yuletide, but I figured hey, what could it hurt to ask.

I loved writing this story! I mean, I knew I had Feelings about football - I just didn't know they would come out like this, or that Alex would be such a great narrator-character.

There are several people on my twitter list that are both fannish and into NFL football, but I don't know if they've written anything. There needs to be a gathering place. A journal, a tumblr. SOMETHING. Unless there is one out there? Mostly I get my fic through AO3, so I'm pretty limited in what I know about.

I've never found anything except on AO3. I just keep finding soccer. And most of the fic on AO3 is about characters I don't want to read (or have read the same stories over and over and over.)
